If you are a fan of "local" foods, business, or what-have-you... this event is an extension of that in race form. Organized by volunteers for 46 years running, the vibe is low key and backyard cozy. Not over-marketed and flooded, this race feels like your uncles organized it in the park down the street for the annual family reunion. The handicapped system evens the playing field so all have a legitimate chance at winning and with the new timing chip system this year the results were known within the day. I love the local scene and beautiful setting.

Last year, I ran this on a whim and loved everything about it except taking a fall around mile 7 that left a scar on my right shin. This year, I raved and rallied and got Clayton to join me for what would be my personal conquest - I no longer would be scarred but prevail having shaved time off my finish time and without injury!

Check out my AVERAGE heart rate... how is that even possible?

I would say that my typical race pace is more like mile 4 or 3 below however due to the crazy elevation changes, my pace was really impacted (as evident by mile 6).

This next image shows my heart rate (in red) with the elevation (in green). Ridonculous.

Actual finish time: 1:52:20.9
Handicapped finish time: 2:00:20.9
Place 179/200 (not last!)
